WEEK1-Independent Stdudy

  • 3 short statements of describing 3 concepts of "home"
  1. "I feel comfortable and secure. I am at home. Sleep comes quickly."-This is a feeling exactly same as me when I am at home. Home makes me comfortable as I have no limit to do anything that I want to do and no one would obstruct. Home makes me secure as this is a place belongs to me and only people belong to this home could come in this place. This is a place I can eat, wash, sleep etc. which becomes a significant part of my life.
  2. "The boundaries of home seemingly extend beyond its walls to the neighborhood, even the suburb, town or city. Home is place but it is also a space inhabited by family, people, things and belongings-a familiar, if not comfortable space where particular activities and relationships are lived. In my account home is a virtual place, a repository for memories of the lived spaces."-Home is a place I can meet up with families and friends, celebrates birthdays&festivals, relax myself like watch my favorite actor's movie, listen blues and read magazine.Or, even do nothing just sleep for whole day. Sometimes, the place of home is changed, for example, I moved to a new house when I was 12 years old.Things have been changed in new house, new furnishings, new neighbors...however, this is a new place I live in, it's still my home which is a place I have a sense of belonging.
  3. "The home is a major political background-for feminists, who see it in the crucible of gender domination; for liberals, who identify it with personal autonomy and a challenge to state power, for socialists, who approach it as a challenge to collective life and the ideal of a planned and egalitarian social order."-Home is not a only political background, it's also a religion background. If there is one person in family believes in god, this person can affect other family member by his/her conversations and behaviors in daily life.
